Tiercon is an automotive supplier committed to the manufacture of quality exterior and interior trim and bumper systems used as original equipment in the automotive markets. Headquartered in Stoney Creek, the plants have moulding, painting and assembly capability, employing approximately 650 people throughout 5 Canadian facilities, and 1 US facility. Tiercon is seeking a knowledgeable, self directed, experienced and hard working individual interested in the automotive industry as H&S/Ergonomic Coordinator at our Stoney Creek Corporate office. 

Reporting to the EHS Manager, the H&S/Ergonomic Coordinator will be responsible to support program development and compliance at all sites.

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include: 

  • Guide and support compliance with all legislative requirements, Health and safety management system standard.
  • Provide technical support and leadership on all H&S requirements and drive best practices across the organization.
  • Provide technical support and leadership in the development of ergonomic procedures.
  • Performs ergonomic job hazard analyses of work stations with identified risk factors including job process, work station and work method and follow up to evaluate effectiveness of changes.
  • Interface between plant supervision, engineering and employees in developing ergonomically correct work cell design. Analyze and recommend design changes to existing and/or new equipment, work stations, and work processes.
  • Record and study injury data, employee complaints and job hazard recognition to implement effective countermeasures for improving ergonomic work practices.
  • Assist in coordinating modified work assignments for injured workers through an early and safe return to work plan.
  • Develop and implement H&S programs in consultation with all departments.
  • Participate and support Health & safety audits and corrective action.
  • Support comprehensive written reports with clear findings and recommendations.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on H&S performance based on agreed upon metrics.
  • Identify H&S training and program needs.  Establish and implement plans and programs to meet these needs.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver H&S and Ergo training programs (based on subject matter expertise).
  • Monitor and support facility action plans and drive closure on corrective actions. Assess situations or circumstances and effectively apply standards, and provide sound recommendations. 
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills including intuitive cost benefit analyses.
  • Work independently to conduct research, write programs and reports. Work as team member with both internal and external interested parties.
  • Interface with regulatory bodies on all H&S matters as appropriate with support of Sr. Management.
  • Encourage employee and management involvement and champion a positive H&S culture.
  • Serve as a resource and provide guidance and assistance to the Joint Health and Safety Committees through data analysis, mentorship and involvement. 
  • Review illness and injury data and investigation reports and provide direction as required.
  • Support the claims management process. 
  • Provide leadership and support to facility representatives on the ongoing Hazard Assessment process. 
  • Provide leadership and support of the H&S change management process.

  • Undertake continuous learning through courses, such as community college and university courses, through on-the-job initiatives and through networking and professional liaisons. Attend conferences and seminars and read H&S publications to learn about best practices and emerging trends in health and safety as needed.
  • Coordinate with all affiliate facilities to share best practices and alignment where applicable. 


  • Completion of post-secondary education in the field of Occupational Health and Safety and/or Kinesiology related program.  A Bachelor's degree is preferred OR equivalent work experience. 
  • Completion of a professional designation in H&S or Environmental Sciences preferred. 
  • A minimum of 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment in an H&S role.
  • Extensive knowledge and application of H&S legislation and industry standards.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with health and safety program development, implementation, and training.
  • Experience with OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to build partnerships and collaborate with various functional areas.
  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Extensive experience with H&S auditing, both compliance and management systems.
  • Experience assisting individuals to maintain their health and prevent injury.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others.
